Bad weather continued to follow Ohio in midweek conference games, as rain found its way to Dayton for the Bobcat’s Tuesday matchup with the Flyers.

Ohio dropped a 2-1 decision to the Flyers in 10 innings after rain delayed the game by 25 minutes in the ninth.

Each team couldn’t manage to push runners across the plate despite the team’s combining for 20 hits and four walks.

The lone run for Ohio came in the third inning, when right fielder Scott White singled in center fielder Nick Squires, who led off the inning with a double. Squires went 4-4 on the afternoon.

But Dayton capitalized on Ohio mistakes to eventually take the game in the 10th, as an error by Squires, who was moved into right field in the eighth inning, allowed the winning run to score and send Ohio home with their third defeat in four games.

Coach Rob Smith went to the bullpen to get the job done on the mound Tuesday, trying not to wear out too many arms for a game the next day at Pittsburgh and a weekend series against Bowling Green.

Junior Sean Kennedy pitched 4.1 innings, allowing eight hits, but no runs. Senior Brett Barber, junior Brad Przebieda, sophomore Logan Cozart and freshman Ryan Ferrell finished the rest of the game, with Ferrell taking the loss despite not allowing any earned runs.

Freshman Nate Squires reached base for the 24th consecutive game, notching a single in the tenth to extend the streak.
