For the first time in 12 years, the Ohio hockey team will have a new face of the program, as former assistant coach Jonathon Sheridan will replace Dan Morris at head coach.

Morris, had a career record of 344-120 during his 12 seasons, but stepped down in July because of the high demands from being the director of Bird Arena and a head coach.

Sheridan will become the 12th head coach in the program’s history after he spent last season as an assistant on the Ohio coaching staff.

During his senior season at Lawrence University, he was selected as team captain. While at Lawrence, which competes at the Division III level, he tallied six goals and 16 assists through the course of 76 career games.

He then signed a tryout agreement with the Knoxville Ice Bears of the Southern Professional Hockey League before making a decision to focus on coaching.

The Bobcats return the majority of their lineup this season, including the entire back line and three of the top five goal scorers. Ohio advanced to the ACHA National Semi-Finals and won the Central States Collegiate Hockey League tournament last season.
