After sweeping the Eastern Kentucky University Invitational this weekend, Ohio (8-1) received 152 points in this week’s American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.

The Bobcats are ranked No. 24 in the nation, as they are off to their best start since the 2005 campaign. This is the first time that the squad has been ranked since 2007, when Ohio reached its highest ranking in program history at No. 13.

Freshman outside hitter Katie Horton was also named the Mid-American Conference East Division’s offensive player of the week on Monday. She is the third Bobcat to receive player of the week honors this season.

Horton earned the WKU Invitational’s Most Valuable Player honors afrer notching double-digit kills in each of the Bobcats’ three matches this weekend. She finished the tournament with 31 kills, nine digs, and three blocks.

Horton recorded a career-high 11 kills in Ohio’s second victory of the weekend against then-No. 21 Western Kentucky. She also added 10 kills and five digs, while hitting .409 in the team’s comeback win against Virginia.
