Ohio graduate student middle blocker Alexis Pinson was named the Mid-American Conference-East Division’s Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Pinson received all-tournament honors in the Baymont Inn Inviational, in which she helped lead the Bobcats to a 2-1 record on the weekend.Sle also notched 19 blocks and six service aces during the tournament.

Against then-No. 24 North Carolina, Pinson racked up 14 blocks, which was the most by a Bobcat in the last four years.

The graduate student transfer also recorded her first double-double with Ohio in the same match, where she recorded 13 kills along with her 14 blocks.

Pinson led the Bobcats in blocks again on Saturday against Dayton. She notched 4 blocks, 4 kills and 3 aces in Ohio’s straight-set victory over Dayton (25-22, 25-19, 25-16).
