Why do some fantasy players have to be busts? Why can’t every fantasy player be valuable? Am I taking fantasy too seriously?
The obvious answer is no, I’m not taking fantasy sports too seriously, because there has always been a winner and loser.
It’s a part of sports.
History has always been written by the winners, just ask the 2001 Mariners or the 1999 Minnesota Vikings. This lesson goes for fantasy owners: you’re going to lose games.
Very rarely does someone dominate their league. For an example, one of my leagues has five of eight teams standing at 5-5. Losing is something that happens to everyone and the sooner you realize your team isn’t perfect, the better owner you’ll become.
Players to watch in Fantasy:
Calvin Johnson, Wide Receiver, Detroit Lions – Megatron had another crazy game against the Bears, posting 20 fantasy points for the third consecutive week. Look for Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford to throw deep and often to Calvin Johnson against a defense that has struggled all season.
Eric Bledsoe, Point Guard, Phoenix Suns- The hype is real for Bledsoe. The guard who was traded from the Los Angeles Clippers over the preseason has been a bright spot on a team with a dry spell. He’s currently ranked second behind his former teammate Chris Paul.
Kevin Love, Forward, Minnesota Timberwolves – This double-double monster has been exactly that: a monster. After suffering injures all last season, he has started the season with MVP type numbers: 26 points, 15 rebounds and five assists per game.
Matt Forte, Running Back, Chicago Bears – I actually really like Matt Forte. He flies under the radar, but the 27-year-old has been very productive for Chicago this year. Look for him to rush all over the Ravens this week, which allowed 120 yards on the ground against Cincinnati.
Robert Griffin III, Quarterback, Washington Redskins – “RGIII” has a favorable matchup with the porous Philadelphia Eagles secondary that ranks 31st in the NFL against the pass. He has had a typical sophomore slump, but he should be effective against the Eagles as he threw the ball with confidence against the Vikings.
Spencer Hawes, Center, Philadelphia 76ers – Wait what? Spencer Hawes? Yes, he has been an overall solid corner stone for any fantasy team. The big man has scored 15.8 points per game along with 10.8 rebounds and 1.9 blocks.
