After sweeping this past weekend and claiming the outright Mid-American Conference regular season title, Ohio was also recognized with an individual conference award for a league-leading ninth time this season.

Sophomore setter Abby Gilleland was named the Mid-American Conference East Offensive Player of the Week Monday. This is the third time that she has received the honor this season.

In Ohio’s victory over Kent State on Thursday, Gilleland recorded a match-high 34 assists, along with six kills and six digs. She also contributed to the team’s 8-5 blocking edge with two block assists. She managed to put together a .667 hitting percentage on the night, which was the best clip between both teams.

On Saturday against Central Michigan, Gilleland helped the Bobcats close out the MAC Title with a match-high 28 assists and five kills. She also registered two digs and a block assist in Ohio’s second straight 3-0 sweep.

Gilleland ranks fourth in the MAC with 1,119 assists this season.

Ohio received 31 votes in this week’s American Volleyball Coaches Association Coaches Poll, which moves it up to No. 29 in the nation. The Bobcats received 22 votes and ranked No. 30 in last week’s poll.
