The Photo Staff takes you on a strange journey at The Union. The Lost Flamingo’s Theatre Companies produced The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The show took place during the weekend of Thursday, Oct. 19-21; students and community members lined Union Street to see the show.

Matt Bennett took the stage during his first tour as a DJ at Baker Theater on March 2. Bennett is most well known for his role as Robbie in the popular Nickelodeon show “Victorious.”
Local and regional bands performed a benefit concert for the Athens Humane Society at the Union on Friday and Saturday nights. The show was a huge success, raising over $5,000 for the organization. For the 24th time, bands played music from artists such as Tyler Childers, Fleetwood Mac, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, and so many more. The event was held on March 3-4th and began at 8 p.m.
Election Day in Athens County saw more than 18,000 cast ballots and 46% voter turn out during the 2022 midterms.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show returned to Athens over the weekend. Post photographers documented every aspect of it, including portraits of prominent characters and coverage of both preparation for the show and during the show.
Ohio welcomed alumni and students to Court Street, College Green and Peden Stadium among other areas around Athens this past weekend for annual homecoming events and football game. Campus seemed to be back in full swing on the account of attendees of the Homecoming parade after the relaxing of two year old COVID-19 protocols on campus and around Athens.
Gina Kruzel is a paranormal investigator, Tarot card reader in Southeast Ohio for the past 30 years. Kruzel says her metaphysical skills have allowed her to help clients near and far with things beyond this realm.
Ohio’s soccer team’s practice was interrupted by an out of control truck that drove through the south goal at Chessa Field on Wednesday. The driver was found dead when authorities arrived; no member of the team was physically injured.
The Nelsonville Music Festival took the stage once again over the weekend with headliners like Japanese Breakfast, Angel Olsen, Yo La Tengo and Lucinda Williams.
Four years ago this November, Jody “J” Black was diagnosed with and aggressive form of lung cancer called large cell adenocarcinoma. Black fell into a depression soon after experiencing complications in treatment and stayed there for three years. Last weekend he threw a benefit at Doug’s Vault in Albany, Ohio to raise money for his treatments and the future of his family.
Skaters gathered for a night of what they do best on Saturday, Aug. 27 in the annual Skate Jam party at the Athens Skate Park.
Bobcats returned to Athens with open arms to new students at the Involvement Fair, Freshman Convocation and parties on Mill Street, among other Welcome Week activities.
The Athens County Fair featured events like tractor pulls, a demolition derbies and KOI drag races alongside local vendors like Arner’s Fresh Cut Fries and Ali Baba Gyro’s.
