During the meeting, the Athens City Council decided on a resolution that would demand and encourage a ceasefire and de-escalation in Gaza from state and federal leaders. Around 25 residents of Athens and students from Ohio University came to the demonstration in support of withdrawing American forces from Gaza and in mourning for the deceased. The Biggest Cover Up Comes to Town

The Union hosted the annual The Biggest Cover Up Fundraiser for the Athens County Humane Society on Feb. 17 and 18, 2024. Local bands partook in this fundraiser, covering bands such as Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys and ABBA.
