9:35 p.m. UPDATE: At about 9:15 p.m. Tuesday night, the Athens County Board of Elections released the final unofficial results for Election Day 2013.
Interim Athens City Councilwoman Jennifer Cochran was elected to serve citizens on the city’s legislative body, a job she’s held since this summer when appointed to the seat by the Athens Democratic Party.
Clinching third place Tuesday night with 925 votes, Cochran will join incumbents Chris Knisely, with 980 votes, and Steve Patterson, with 988 votes, as at-large council members.
Independent Troy Gregorino, booking manager at Donkey Coffee & Espresso in Athens, with 328 votes, falls in fourth place and was unable to nab a spot on council.
Residents in the city of Athens also largely approved Issue 3, which will allow the city to aggregate electricity for citizens, a move officials have said would decrease costs for all. A duplicate measure, Issue 2, was on the ballot for the rest of the county. That passed more slimly: 2,320 voted for the issue with 2,136 against.
Issue 1, a .5 mill tax levy for Athens County Emergency Medical Services, passed largely with 5,017 voting for and 2,396 against.
Voter turnout in the county today was 17.37 percent. There were 7,639 total ballots cast.

The city of Athens is about halfway toward getting electric aggregation for Athens citizens and making one interim city councilwoman an elected fixture on the body, according to early voting data from the County Board of Elections.
Issue 3, the electric aggregation proposal on the ballot for the city of Athens, is gaining wide support with 30 of 56 precincts reporting 588 votes for the measure and only 119 against.
A duplicate measure, Issue 2, was on the ballot for the rest of the county, but the race is much tighter with 553 votes for and 462 against the county government aggregating electricity for residents.
Interim City Councilwoman Jennifer Cochran, a local massage therapist, is clinching on to her seat on council, which she was appointed to by the Athens Democratic Party this summer when Elahu Gosney stepped down.
With 925 votes, she's trailing behind incumbents Chris Knisely, at 980 votes, and Steve Patterson, leading with 988 votes. All three are Democrats.
Independent Troy Gregorino, the booking manager at Donkey Coffee & Espresso in Athens, has 328 votes, putting him in fourth place. If he continues to hold at the current pace, he would not clinch one of the three council seats up for grabs.
