Post Letter: OU event successful for several charities

Thank you for including the picture of the Bare On The Bricks event in the Monday edition of The Post. However, the photo headline and caption suggested that the event was a fraternity event to collect clothing items for Haiti relief. This is not entirely inaccurate, but misses several key points.

First, the event was co-sponsored by both the Student Alumni Board and Alpha Epsilon Pi, and had both Greek and non-Greek life participants. The event was for the entire Ohio University and Athens community, and we would like to thank all participants for making the event a huge success. More than 300 participants collectively donated 1,015 pounds of clothes. These clothing items will be distributed mainly to the Athens community through My Sister's Place and Athens City schools. The remaining summer clothing that the Athens area does not have space for will be sent to Haiti.

Thanks to all participants for making the inaugural Bare on the Bricks a success. A special thanks is owed to OU's Women in Philanthropy for their generous SCORE grant, Athens City Council and Police Department and the Ohio University Alumni Association. We hope to build on this year's event and make Bare on the Bricks an OU tradition for years to come.

Sarah Kelly, a junior studying communication studies, is philanthropy chair of the Student Alumni Board, and Chad Leikin, a junior studying accounting and finance, is philanthropy chair of Alpha Epsilon Pi.
