Ohio University's Graduate Student Senate last night hosted their last meeting of the quarter, which featured a presentation about MyOhio.
The meeting opened with a presentation by Sean O'Malley, communications manager for the Office of Information Technology. He talked to graduate student senators about the new MyOhio system, which will combine several components of OU's website all into one site.
Students can log onto the system using the current system of MyOhio
O'Malley said. They can schedule classes they can see how much they owe and see their financial situation and they can see their personal contact information.
While the site will not take over for Blackboard or CatMail, it will overlap with both sites.
While you used to have to go to three different websites or call two different offices to find a person to ask a question you can now just go onto this interface
O'Malley said. It's all self-serve
and it's all online.
Although the overall system is the same for graduate students, undergraduate students and faculty, there will be minor differences depending on the individual.
To my understanding
the features will be a little different depending on if you are a (graduate) student or an (undergraduate) student
said Tracy Kelly, president of Graduate Student Senate.
Teachers and teaching assistants will also be able to edit grades and classroom information on the website.
They are building interface right now that will incorporate online grading
O'Malley said. Teachers will be able to log in and get a list of students as well as photos of them. They can use an attendance application and an application where they can post textbooks that they will use while they are teaching.
The website is still undergoing improvements and renovations, but students can start using the site now.
In addition to the presentation, a resolution passed unanimously calling for the addition of two new senators. Christine Pirot will be the new graduate senator for the Center of International Studies, and Cait Nolan will be the Position Department Representative for Art.
