Police Blotter

Police Blotter: Intoxicated student found vomiting blood in bathroom

Ohio University Police Department found three students passed out, vomiting, or both in residence halls on the same day.

An Ohio University Police Department officer was dispatched to the second floor restroom of Sargent Hall on Saturday at about 6 p.m because an intoxicated female student was vomiting blood, according to a police report.

The report indicated that the student had vomit on her pant leg and abrasions on her forehead and elbow from falling and that there was vomit in the toilet. She smelled like alcohol, and couldn’t stand or walk on her own, according to the report.

The student was transported to OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital by EMS and charged with disorderly conduct by intoxication, according to the report.

She was one of three students reportedly found passed out or vomiting by OUPD in residence halls Saturday.

OUPD received reports of nine alcohol-related incidents between Feb. 15 and Monday, including five incidents of disorderly conduct by intoxication.

Vomit bucket

Housing and Residence Life staff called OUPD on Saturday saying a student had passed out in a Gamertsfelder Hall bathroom, according to a police report.

An OUPD officer arrived at about 8 p.m. and found the student in her room vomiting into a waste basket, according to the police report. The officer charged her with disorderly conduct by intoxication.

Hallway arrest

At about 3 a.m. Saturday, OUPD arrested a student “for his safety and the safety of others” after he was found passed out in a second floor James Hall hallway, according to the police report.

The report indicates that the student was unable to stand on his own and had slurred speech and moved lethargically. OUPD officers also found someone else’s driver’s license in his possession. They charged him with using another operator’s license and disorderly conduct by intoxication, and he was transported to Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail pending sobriety.

Hot box

OUPD reported 11 drug-related incidents between Feb. 15 and Monday, with 10 of them involving marijuana.

In one incident, an RA called OUPD on Saturday just before midnight and said she’d found suspected marijuana paraphernalia in a fire extinguisher box in the first floor lobby of O'Bleness House, according to the police report. OUPD brought the item back to an evidence locker and marked it for destruction.

In another incident, OUPD officers observed four people who appeared to be smoking outside Brough House on Friday at about 10 p.m, according to a police report. One student admitted to throwing the marijuana joint he was smoking onto the ground as the officers approached, and he was cited for possession of controlled substances.

Roommate hate

An RA at True House contacted OUPD on Saturday about a fight between two female residents on the second floor of the building.

When OUPD officers arrived at about 11 p.m., the women were arguing in their room, according to the police report, which does not indicate whether or not alcohol was involved. Officers found that there had been a physical altercation between them and cited them both for disorderly conduct by fighting.

Grand theft printer

OUPD received five reports of theft between Feb. 15 and Monday. Some reports alleged small items were stolen. A student reported money stolen from his Jefferson Hall room, and a student reported her license plate stolen from the True House parking lot.

But according to one police report, a student reported her printer stolen to OUPD Feb. 18. The student alleged that the printer was stolen from the second floor study lounge at Perkins Hall.
