A search warrant has been issued for the residence hall room of two Ohio University students, who allegedly ordered a shipment of fake IDs.
OU Police searched the Sargent Hall room of a 20-year-old student and Sean McCafferty, both sophomores, after U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the Port of Cincinnati intercepted a package of fake IDs.
The package was shipped from Hong Kong and contained 20 professional quality counterfeit driver's licenses, according to the warrant.
Ten of the licenses had Pennsylvania information, two of which contained the student and McCafferty's names, according to the warrant.
All the driver's license numbers were found to be fictitious, except for one, which was of a Pennsylvania woman. This number was used on the license with McCafferty's name, according to the warrant.
OU Police Detective David Valentine searched the students' room Tuesday. He seized a false ID with the 20-year-old's name on it, two false IDs with McCafferty' s name on it, both students' computers, a Pennsylvania ID from McCafferty's wallet and four other false IDs, according to court documents.
No charges have been issued by the Athens County Court of Common Pleas.
