Kasich appoints three new trustees

Ohio Gov. John Kasich appointed three new members to the Ohio University Board of Trustees Monday.

Keith Wilbur of Worthington in Franklin County and a sophomore studying economics and political science will begin his term as student trustee on May 14 until May 13, 2015.

“You have to be a principled person to serve as a student trustee; you have to be detail oriented, and you have to really get the holistic view of the university,” Wilbur said in a previous Post article. “You have to look at Athens locally. You have to look at the state now. We also have to look at the students, and I’m ready to take that position on.”

Cary R. Cooper of Maumee in Lucas County is expected to start on April 29 until May 13, 2014. Cooper received a bachelor's degree from OU in 1964 and a law degree summa cum laude from The University of Toledo College of Law in 1969. He has a background of litigation and arbitration practices.

Janelle N. Simmons of Columbus, also from Franklin County, was appointed for a term beginning May 14 until May 13, 2022. Simmons is an alumna from OU in 1995 with a bachelor's degree in journalism. She also has a background in community projects.
