Tomorrow's meet against Ball State was already going to be a big test for the Bobcats, but after Wednesday's developments it got a lot tougher.
Junior Cy Moser and the rest of the men's squad will travel to Muncie, Ind., this weekend, knowing that this will be their last dual meet as a Bobcat.
All season long we haven't been doing this for anyone other than ourselves
and I think that nothing is going to change Moser said. We're going to go in there and compete hard to represent ourselves and our team as best we can in our last few opportunities.
The men (4-2, 1-2 Mid-American Conference) have already clinched their first winning season in coach Greg Werner's tenure at Ohio and look to even their conference record on the season.
Although Ball State (1-4) is struggling this season, Moser said his teammates must be ready to go.
Ball State is one of our big rivals within swimming and other than Miami
they're the one we like to beat the most
Moser said. We need to make sure that we swim our own races and as long as we put up solid performances we should be in pretty good shape against them.
The women have been swimming well on the road, going 4-1 away from Athens this season. If the Bobcats hope to continue their success, they will have to defeat a veteran-laden Ball State (5-3-1) team that has lost just one meet at home all season. Making things even tougher is that it's senior night at the Lewellen Center.
It's getting down to the wire and we need to make sure that we race well this weekend
said junior Emily Wylam said.
Werner said that his team must compete well in all the events for them to come out on top, while also working on the little things to get them ready for the MAC championships.
We can't have some weak areas and make up for it in other areas ' we have to be balanced all the way through
Werner said. We're looking at last adjustments
last corrections and last looks ' this is our last chance to get ready for the championships.
