The Ohio women's golf team will open its 2010 season when it travels to Batavia to play in the University of Cincinnati Fall Invitational.
The two-day event, hosted by the University of Cincinnati, begins first-round action today and will finish up tomorrow.
Ohio is coming off the Mid-American Conference Championship last spring, in which they placed seventh.
The Bobcats return two seniors, two juniors and two sophomores. Ohio's squad added freshman Kara Brinkmann and Kristen Helmsdoerfer during the summer, and both are expected to make an immediate impact on the team.
Ohio women's golf has received numerous off-season awards and accolades.
The National Golf Coaches Association recognized the Bobcats among the top academic performers in the country in GPA, ranking them 18th on the 25-team list
The Bobcats also received recognition when Megan Weaver and Erin Cahill earned top-five finishes in the fifth event on the TaylorMade-Adidas Collegiate Series.
Ohio participated in the Cincinnati's Spring Invitational in March, finishing in 15th. Cahill led the way for the Bobcats when she tied for 58th overall.
