As a team, the Bobcats finished the day at 25-over par in the Dayton Flyer Invitational.
Tim Gusweiler led the team with a 5-over-par 76, and Chad Warmbein shot 6-over-par 77 for the day. Stewart Jamieson and Phil Gieseker each posted a 7-over-par 78, while Paul Grauer had the worst outing of the day, 10-over-par 81.
At the time of publication, the University of Dayton had not published official scores for either individuals or teams.
The course at NCR South is definitely difficult, and the wind didn't help matters.
It was easy to hit bad shots today because when you hit an okay or poor shot
the wind really magnified your mistakes said Warmbein.
Getting to the green was not the problem for Ohio today, Warmbein said. The problems were at the greens.
With very fast greens and large putting surfaces we had too many three putts and even some four putts out there
he said
As a team
I think its pretty evident that one three putt a round can be acceptable
but more than that is totally unacceptable; those are mistakes we can't be making.
After the round, the putting game was something Coach Bob Cooley addressed. He told the team to relax and concentrate on the greens. He said that their putting failures resulted from mental mistakes, and not a lack of talent.
Warmbein has confidence that he and the team will bounce back today and sink a few more putts.
It is something I know I can do tomorrow and something I know my teammates can do. We should be able to make up a few shots on the field.
