An Ohio University student said yesterday she wants an OU football player to pay for her leg injuries and mangled motorcycle after a crash last month.
Safety Steven Jackson of Austin, Texas, allegedly drove into Lauren Sauer's sports bike about a month ago outside the Convocation Center. Sauer, a senior studying integrated mathematics, spent two weeks in a wheelchair after the accident, she said. Jackson couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
I'll have scars for the rest of my life
Sauer said, adding that she still needs knee surgery.
The accident also destroyed her $4,500 motorcycle.
It's my baby Sauer said.
Her attorney, Richard Marquardt of Columbus, declined to comment at press time.
Police did not press charges at the time of the accident, OU Police Chief Andrew Powers, said.
Basically it was a traffic accident
he added.
The accident has not affected Jackson's position on the football team.
We are looking into this matter further and will respond appropriately
Jason Corriher, spokesman for Ohio Athletics, said.
Sauer, a member of OU's Women's Crew Team and the Marching 110, said the accident severely affected her senior year.
Her doctor will allow her to march during halftime at Saturday's Homecoming game, but not during the rest of the game, she said. Sauer attends every game so Homecoming won't be the first time that she watches Jackson play.
But, she added, I don't like it.
