The Bobcats came into the weekend looking to bounce back from a less than stellar performance in the All-Ohio Championships, and they did just that.
Coach Clay Calkins said earlier in the week that he would give his more inexperienced athletes the opportunity to compete in Geneva, but he also leaned on one of his stalwarts, senior Annie Beecham, to set the example.
Beecham won the mile with a time of 4 minutes, 58.52 seconds - one of three Bobcats to place in the top 10 in the event. The Bobcats had 14 top-10 finishes for the meet.
Besides the distance team's usually strong outing, the field event performers showed improvements from last week. Alexis Geiger finished second in the long jump, and Kristen Mason and Lauren McCullough finished in the top 10 in the weight throw.
A lot of young athletes also stepped up at the meet, as freshmen Emily Pifer and Juli Accurso both finished in the top 10 in the mile and Accurso finished 10th in the 3,000-meter run.
Calkins could not be reached for comment all weekend.
The Bobcats will look to keep their momentum going in the Meyo Invitational at Notre Dame, Ind. next weekend.
