Golf: Bobcats face 'tough test' at weekend tournament

The Ohio men's golf team plays at the Kepler Intercollegiate, hosted by Ohio State tomorrow and Sunday.

The Bobcats will be the lone representative for the Mid-American Conference in the field, which features every Big Ten team. The 16-team field will compete on the par-71, 7,455-yard Scarlet Course at the Ohio State Golf Club. The course, ranked the top collegiate facility in the nation by Golf Digest, should prove to be a tough test, coach Bob Cooley said.

Scoring conditions could be even tougher that normal, with temperatures expected to be near freezing again on Saturday.

Ohio features the same lineup from its fifth place finish in last weekend's Marshall Invitational that was shortened due to inclement weather, with Mark Cimarolli, Grant Christman, Chad Warmbein, Ryan Siekmann and Mark Phillips. James Ellis will play as an individual.

Warmbein led the Bobcats last week, finishing with a tie for ninth. His career-best finish earned him his second straight nomination for MAC Golfer of the Week.
