The Bobcats teed it up for the first time Monday and Tuesday as the men competed at the John Piper Intercollegiate Tournament at Bowling Green and the women at the Brickyard Invitational hosted by Northern Illinois.
Senior Katie Stafford led the women to a seventh place finish with an 8-over-par score of 152 and was followed by Erin Cahill who shot a 158, Jordan Fesh, 159; Colleen Lienesh, 159; and Megan Curran, 184.
We had some real bad winds on Tuesday to go with some very difficult hole locations
coach Jeff Hetler said. Stafford said that the winds caused problems, but she was happy with her game.
I think my irons saved me a couple times and that enabled me to get up and down after some poor tee shots Stafford said.
The men finished 13th as senior Mark Phillips was best on the Bobcats with a 9-over-par, 225. James McGrath had the second best finish for Ohio at 228, Chad Warmbein, 229; Jason Ferrante, 236; and Mark Reinhold 237.
We didn't play that well the second two rounds
and we have a lot of work to do
but we also didn't have that much time to practice before coming out
coach Bob Cooley said.
The men's next tournament is the Yestingsmeier Invitational, and up next for the women is the Nittany Lion Invitational.
