An Ohio Court of Claims motion earlier this month lifted the almost 2-year-old stay on a case against Ohio University involving a former student’s death.
Joseph Robinson, after his daughter, Andrea, died of bacterial meningitis in 2010, filed suit against OU for negligence to provide necessary care at the Hudson Health Center and failing to educate students on procedures to prevent meningitis, according to court papers.
It was not immediately clear how much money Robinson is seeking from the university.
A case management conference will be held June 6, but the case isn’t scheduled to go to trial until November 2014.
The Court of Claims case was put on hold in June 2011 because Robinson had another lawsuit pending in Franklin County’s Court of Common Pleas. He was suing O’Bleness Memorial Hospital’s Sheltering Arms Hospital Foundation for $3 million for failing to provide his daughter with proper care.
O’Bleness denied those allegations, according to a previous Post article, and the court ruled in favor of O'Bleness last month.
