Although some visitors to Ohio University can easily find on-campus parking, various regulations on lots, and even the definition of visitor
can mean the difference between a three-minute walk Uptown and a $100 towing bill.
First we draw a fine line on what a 'visitor' is said Sherry Barnes, director of Transportation and Parking Services for OU. University guests
such as guest lecturers for classes and the parents and grandparents of students
can park on campus at any time. They just have to get a parking pass.
However, friends of students are another story.
If a friend comes to visit during the week
they usually need to park at a meter or off campus
she said.
Most parking lots on campus are reserved for those with parking passes and are restricted from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays. However, at 3 p.m. today guests may begin parking in purple campus lots, the largest ones of which are located by The Convo, Peden Stadium and in front of Morton Hall.
Weekend visitors usually have no problem finding a place to park
Barnes said.
However, not all students agree that weekend parking is sufficient.
I've had friends come to visit me on the weekend a few times
and there was always an issue when it came to parking
said junior Nathan Turner, a resident of Foster House on South Green. To be honest
I don't think there's enough parking for anyone at OU
