Ask anyone in my family and they'll tell you I'm a recovering television addict. In high school I used to sit in front of the set for hours, watching Simon and Simon reruns, Degrassi: The Next Generation and Melrose Place.
But something has happened since those blissful days of ignorance. I think that maybe I've watched so much bad television that I'm actually starting to feel sick. If I am becoming more sensitive to the drivel on TV, then I can look forward to a serious headache as this year's television premiere season progresses.
The migraine began when networks decided to barrage us with teenage angst-filled dramas. The O.C. led the way, followed by two reality shows starring She-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named (her initials are LC). But the CW refuses to let it end there. Now we have One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, 90210 and Privileged, which premiered Tuesday night. -
the pair has to solve two murders in England. The chemistry between Brennan and Booth still sizzles, but the dialogue has lost some of its punch. I'm hoping the rapport picks up as the season progresses and that the absence of beloved squint Zach Addy (who delivered great one-liners and was endearingly socially awkward, which I can often relate to) won't be a jump-the-shark decision.
Great, there's that headache again. ' Stephanie Hummel is a senior studying journalism. If you'd like to send her a bottle of Tylenol, drop her a line at sh213005@ohiou.edu
