In their study of management, business, leadership and more, some Ohio University students are going to be getting a personal look at the world of business.
Brian Hancock, president of Martin-Brower, the company best known for supplying food and materials to McDonald’s Corp. for the past 50 years, will be joining the College of Business in the first Strategic Leadership Speaker Series this year.
“Our goal in everything we do through the College of Business’ Robert D. Walter Center for Strategic Leadership is to develop future leaders and people who inspire others to follow them through vision and integrity,” said Jessica Gardner, director of communications at the College of Business. “My hope is that Brian Hancock can help students understand what successful leadership looks like, even during times of fear or failure, by drawing on his experience at global organizations.”
Tim Reynolds, the director of the Robert D. Walter Center for Strategic Leadership, has invited Hancock to the campus knowing his background from past work experiences.
“Brian will specifically address his career story in the integrated supply chain business, leadership lessons — good and bad — (and) the macroeconomic issues and opportunities facing his current business,” said Reynolds.
Reynolds also mentions that Hancock will be using his business knowledge to expose students to some of the most crucial elements of the College of Business.
“Our intention at the Walter Center for Strategic Leadership is to use the Leadership Speaker Series in the College of Business to expose students to the latest issues facing leaders in the business environment, potential career paths and the essential leadership experiences required,” said Reynolds.
Annabelle Giordano, assistant director for the Centers of Excellence, said there will be three more speakers after Hancock coming to speak this year for the series.
“Today’s business environment is dynamic,” said Gardner. “Brian’s talk will outline leadership lessons that he’s acquired over his career that will help our students, faculty and staff understand how to apply those in the constantly changing business environment of today.”
