Your Turn: 'Post' photo callous

On Monday, The Post published, on the front page, a photograph of a young man who was on the verge of taking his own life inside Baker University Center. The editor, no doubt anticipating criticism, wrote a very long letter attempting to justify the editorial decision to display the unfortunate person's face for the world to see. There is nothing I can say at this point to make amends for what The Post staff has so callously done and I'm sure criticism will mean nothing to them. But as a long-time faculty member at Ohio University, I would like to offer a sincere apology to the young man, his family and his loved ones for the insensitive way that The Post handled this issue.

Don H. Shamblin is an associate professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology.
