McDavis, Benchoff, update trustees on Promise Lives Campaign

PICKERINGTON— The Ohio University Board of Trustees resources committee gathered today to discuss the $450 million Promise Lives Campaign.

The planned proposal for the campaign is $24 million for fiscal year 2013 and $55 million for the remainder of the campaign, said Bryan Benchoff, vice president for university advancement.

“We are working towards more sustainable revenue streams for the university,” Benchoff said.

OU President Roderick McDavis stressed the importance of the campaign to the eight trustees present at Thursday’s meeting.

“It is so important,” McDavis said. “When we started the campaign, we were enthusiastic, and we knew we were stretching it when we set the goal for the campaign at $450 million.”

According to the Promise Lives Campaign website, the university has already raised $406 million.

“I think that the data is encouraging,” McDavis said. “I continue to be excited about the campaign and I think we are making great progress.”

In hopes to raise more money for the campaign, the university has helped schedule about 100 events for alumni or other potential donors.
