Athens Police Department had a busy weekend with three reported assaults and three other incidents requiring ambulance transportation.
One fight, resulting in an assault charge, left a male victim with minor injuries at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital's emergency room early yesterday morning. The full report will not be completed until today, according to a news release from Lt. Anthony Fish.
A female victim reported a known female suspect assaulted her in front of the Maplewood Inn and Drive Thru that same morning. Athens police are still investigating the incident, according to the media release.
Athens police responded to another report of an assault early Friday morning on North Court Street, but found no victims at the scene.
Two incidences of alcohol abuse, one resulting in alcohol poisoning, sent two people to the emergency room via Southeastern Ohio Emergency Medical Services ambulances. Another male subject was transported to the emergency room because he hit his head, according to the media release.
Fish could not be reached for comment.
