Sean Hogan will step down as the Bobcats’ hockey coach at the end of this season due to personal reasons.
Hogan has been at Ohio since the 2014-15 season, when he took over for Johnathan Sheridan.
In his five years at Ohio, Hogan has compiled a 129-37-19 record. He has accomplished a career record of 235-144-24. Under his guidance, the Bobcats have made the American Collegiate Hockey Association National Tournament every year.
"I loved my time here at Ohio," Hogan said. "When I'm older and I look back, I'll always be proud to say I was the head coach for five years at Ohio."
His postseason success is highlighted by a national championship appearance in the 2016-17 season when Ohio fell to Central Oklahoma. He's also taken the Bobcats to two quarterfinal appearances.
He's led Ohio to two regular season Central States Collegiate Hockey League championships and two CSCHL tournament runners-up.
Hogan’s name has been in the ACHA since 2005 when he was announced as the head coach at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. He won a Division I and Division II National Championship while at Oakland, becoming the first coach in the ACHA to accomplish that feat.
He also had a three-year stint at the helm of the University of Arizona, where he led the Wildcats to a national tournament appearance.
Ohio will travel to Wentzville, Missouri, for the CSCHL Tournament where it will face Iowa State on March 16. The Bobcats will conclude their season in Frisco, Texas, when they will play in the ACHA National Tournament.
