Adults arrested for drug corruption charge

Two Nelsonville individuals were arraigned in court yesterday for corrupting a juvenile with drugs.

Terry Schwab, 54, and Michelle Fidell, 44, were arraigned in Athens County Municipal Court yesterday each on a corrupting another with drugs charge.

Schwab allegedly provided a 17-year-old female with 146 oxycodone tablets, which is a schedule II controlled substance, according to court documents.

Fidell is being charged for enabling her daughter, the 17-year-old female, in the trafficking of drugs. The juvenile participated in selling the drugs to a confidential informant with the assistance of Fidell, according to documents.

Corrupting another with drugs is a second-degree felony. It carries a maximum sentence of eight years in prison and a maximum fine of $15,000, according to the Ohio Revised Code.

Schwab was arrested on Friday and has already posted bond.

Fidell was arrested early Saturday morning and booked at Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail around 1:15 a.m.  She was given a bond of $200,000.

Fidell was still in jail at press time.

Both Schwab and Fidell are scheduled to reappear in court April 11 at 2:00 p.m. for a preliminary hearing.
