Dean of Students search announced

The Division of Student Affairs has officially begun the search for Ohio University’s next Dean of Students.

Ryan Lombardi, vice president for Student Affairs, announced in a university wide email on Tuesday that the Spelman & Johnson Group has been hired to help and that an open forum will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 13 to gain student input.

“This is an important search for the Division of Student Affairs and Ohio University,” Lombardi said in the email.

The Division of Student Affairs will hold the open forum in Baker University Center room 240/242 on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. to give students the opportunity to voice their desired qualities in the position.

Jenny Hall-Jones, current interim Dean of Students, said that she will be applying for the position and is excited.

“I’m glad that the search is during the spring when students are still around,” she said. “It’s an important time for students to figure out who they want for their Dean and who they want to pick.”

Lombardi said in a previous interview with The Post that the committee will choose the final candidates for the position but he will make the hire.

“Ultimately, I will be making the final decision in who will fill the position,” he added.

Hall-Jones said she’s not too nervous about the job search and that she will be preparing for the next step on the search process.

“I’m currently in the interviewing process,” she said. “I’ll be working on my resume.”
