Loss to Flashes nothing new for Bobcats

Luck was not with the Ohio women's basketball team when it was scheduled to face Kent State in the quarterfinals of the Mid-American Conference Tournament.

After Wednesday's loss to the Golden Flashes, Ohio is now 0-6 against Kent State in the postseason play. Kent State ended the Bobcats' last quarterfinal appearance with an 83-62 victory March 6, 2002.

The Golden Flashes have ended the Bobcat's chances in the quarterfinals four times and have eliminated the Bobcats five times overall in the MAC Tournament.

Awards a plenty for freshman The awards continue to pile up for standout freshman guard Simone Redd. After being named to the MAC's All-Freshman team and the Honorable Mention team on Monday, Redd was named the MAC Sixth Man of the Year yesterday.

This is the first specialty award that Ohio women's basketball has won since Marsha Reall won MAC Coach of the Year in 1995. Redd is the first women's basketball player to win Freshman of the Year since Caroline Mast won the award in 1983.

Despite being named the best sixth man, Redd did most of her damage in the starting lineup. Redd started 16 of the team's 29 contests and led the team in minutes per game with 24.4. Redd shot 41.6 percent from the field and led the team in scoring with 11.2 points per game.

Banner year for Isbell One week after being named MAC Scholar Athlete of the week, senior forward Erin Isbell was named co-MAC Player of the Week for the final week of the regular season. She is the first women's player to win the award this season.

After a slow start, Isbell came on strong at the end of the season. She had four of her team-high six double-doubles in the team's final seven games. She also did not foul out in any the team's final six contests.

Isbell also led the team in rebounds, steals, and blocks per game. With her final block of the season, Isbell became Ohio's all-time block leader with 47 career blocks. She also moved from 10th to third on Ohio's all-time rebounding list.
