In response to Christian students should be permitted to spend Good Friday outside of class the Campus Crusade member wrote March 13: The simple reply is, do it! No need to whine to the rest of the university about a choice that's purely yours, huh.
Entertain a few corrections from an atheist: Labor Day IS more important than Good Friday because it applies to all Americans who labor for us: America. Read The Meaning of the Dead Sea Scrolls by the late Rev. A. Powell Davies - Jesus didn't die in his crucifixion on the Roman cross-beam pole. The book's in Alden Library.
At least Ohio University is open on Good Friday, unlike America's public schools that close. They should remain open. Even public schools with predominately Jewish populations close on Yom Kippur. WRONG! None of our public schools should close for someone's religious holiday.
The writer laments that if his Campus Crusade members play hooky on Good Friday, they'll have fear of being penalized academically. C'mon, get real, sophomore! And as for schools closing for Christmas: That day originally was Northern Peoples' day of celebrating the return of the sun after Winter Solstice, that is, until the Roman Christian hordes invaded those peoples and stole their holiday. (You can study these facts while in university, right?)
