Athens Police Department and Athens City Fire Department responded to an accident at the intersection of East State Street and Stimson Avenue Friday night that injured two pedestrians.
At 6:06 p.m., Bhakti Shah, 24, turned his car onto East State Street and hit a man and woman who were crossing, according to an APD release.
Athens County EMS immediately took one of the victims, Marie Powell, 19, to O’Bleness Memorial Hospital. She has been treated and released. The other victim, however, Ernest Whealdon Jr., 31, turned down medical attention, according to the APD release.
