Three weeks after announcing it would work out an agreement to keep the Holzer Health Clinic as a preferred health care provider, Ohio University has yet to finalize the deal.
OU spokeswoman Katie Quaranta said that the university and Holzer are “still in the process” of working out the details of the agreement.
In early March, OU announced that Holzer would become a Tier Two provider, which would have forced employees who use Holzer to face increased costs or change physicians.
After the faculty senate passed a resolution insisting Holzer remain a Tier One provider, OU announced it had reached a one-year verbal agreement with Holzer. OU’s Director of Benefits Greg Fialko said then that the details of the agreement could not be released until the deal was finalized. In justifying the original decision to make Holzer a Tier Two provider, OU officials said that in repeated negotiations the clinic had refused to reduce prices. In response, Holzer issued a statement claiming it had not been contacted by the university since the fall of 2007.
