The Athens County Commissioners accepted a piece of property, which contains part of the Moonville Rail Trail, a muscle trail for hiking, biking and horseback, at their meeting yesterday.
The trail is being developed through the Clean Ohio Fund program, which requires that the county own the property in order to be eligible, said Commissioner Lenny Eliason.
Funds were awarded to a Rome Township public garage building for a new restroom and replacement garage doors. The refurbishment will cost $18,960.
Commissioners also granted an easement to Burr Oak Regional Water District to provide money for pumping stations. The exact amount is not yet determined.
In addition, they purchased a car for the Athens County Dog Shelter, 13333 state Route 13 in Milfield, which replaced the old one, Eliason said.
