Cdigix, Ohio University's new multimedia downloading service, is conducting a special contest that will award one student two tickets to the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament and $250 in spending money.
All students who have registered with Cdigix by the March 12 contest deadline and meet the other eligibility requirements are automatically entered into the contest.
This promotion was designed specifically for OU and Purdue University students and is being offered to promote Cdigix's services.
We decided to offer this promotion at OU and Purdue because when assessing which schools give us the most support and with which we have a strongest partnership
these two schools came to surface said Mike Queen, Cdigix vice president of sales and marketing.
ESPN On Demand has supplied the championship tickets and the game will be held March 26 at DePaul University in Chicago. In addition to the grand prize, ten secondary prize winners at OU and Purdue will receive a DVD from Teton Gravity Research, an adventure sports production company. The contest winner will be announced March 13.
Cdigix is being offered as an optional service at OU and it's in their best interest to get more subscribers. They are offering the contest as sort of a marketing splash said Sean O'Malley, OU's manager of communications network services and information technology communications.
It is common for other universities to pay for their students to subscribe to Cdigix and other similar companies, O'Malley said.
For example
Penn State purchased Napster subscriptions for all their students a few years back
O'Malley said. We chose to offer Cdigix at OU because they were very supportive of our decision to make the service optional
O'Malley said.
Cdigix is affiliated with nearly 20 other colleges and universities across the United States and provides a secure network that allows students to download movies, television programs, music, educational materials, etc. Cdigix has been providing its services at OU since Fall Quarter 2004.
