Ohio University will offer law-inclined students the chance today to judge what they’re doing after graduation.
For the first time in many years, Ohio University will host a law school fair from 6-8 p.m. today in Baker University Center Ballroom A.
Students interested in studying law will have the chance to meet admissions representatives from law schools across the country. These representatives will hand out literature and answer questions about the admissions process, said Kathleen Sullivan, an associate professor in OU’s political science department.
Representatives from more than 20 schools will be in attendance, including Ohio State University’s Moritz College of Law, Syracuse University’s College of Law and Case Western Reserve University’s School of Law.
“It’s important to note that this event is open to all OU students,” Sullivan said. “Students from any college should feel welcome to attend the fair.”
David Manley, a graduate student who works in OU’s Career Services office, said students of all grade levels should attend the fair. Freshmen and sophomores can begin to get a feel for what the admissions process is like, while juniors and seniors can start narrowing down their options and see if they are missing any key information for their admission packets.
“It’s never too early to start looking,” Manley said.
He added that in addition to attending the law school fair, students should prepare for law school by joining pre-law organizations and completing internships over winter intersession.
Students who graduate from law school will have opportunities to work in a many different realms of law, Manley said.
“Make sure to bring your student ID and come dressed professionally and ready to ask great questions,” he said.
