Well-known for hosting country and bluegrass groups, Stuart's Opera House in Nelsonville will host the award-winning bluegrass duo Dailey & Vincent this weekend.
Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent began playing country and bluegrass many years ago in their respective home states of Kentucky and Missouri. But after playing with many different people, they have come together as a successful pair.
We met at the 2001 BMA's (Bluegrass Music Awards) and I was so blown away by his voice that by the time the song was over
I was backstage Vincent said. And I held my hand out and said 'I'm Darrin Vincent and I want to be your friend.'
Their first collaboration was a Christmas song that went to number one on the bluegrass charts. With such success, Dailey & Vincent knew their fans would want more. Seven years later, the two of them took home seven BMA's at the 2008 award show, including Entertainer of the Year and Album of the Year.
We felt very overwhelmed and shocked - if they had told us to find the door and leave we wouldn't have been able to
it just hit us that hard
Dailey said. Gosh
to have peers that have voted you to that level ... words can't even describe it. We are very humbled.
Putting the awards aside, Dailey & Vincent have been hard at work, touring since January and releasing a new album March 31. The new album will be called Brothers From Different Mothers.
Our record company chose that name
so since they have the money we said okay
Vincent said. But Jamie and I have a unique brother blend
and that glues us together like siblings have. We couldn't be further from brothers because he grew up in Kentucky and I grew up in Missouri
so to come together so many years later is awesome.
Dailey and Vincent may be from different places, but bluegrass certainly runs deep through both of their veins.
I love the simplicity of bluegrass and its heartfelt
acoustic sound
