An Ohio University Police Department official is on leave during an investigation into his conduct.
Police Captain Mark Mathews has been on paid administrative leave since Dec. 8, as originally reported by The Athens Messenger.
“(Mathews) will remain on leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation into allegations of misconduct,” OUPD Chief Andrew Powers said in a statement.
Matthews has a bachelor’s degree in criminology and sociology from OU. He served as interim police chief before Powers took the position.
Powers declined to comment further.
