Helvetica sans-serif> Thank you for the Jan. 14 opinion piece listing the top administrator salaries (“More than 100 Ohio University administrators make $80,000 or more”). Such data are always good for perspective. I would like to make some observationsof the information you presented:
sans-serif> 1) That the total dollars of the 112 employees listed is more than $12 million and that this does not include the cost of benefits. OU’s Athens campus total operating budget is roughly $295 million.

sans-serif> 2) That assuming a 40 hour work week, an $80,000 salary divides into some $38 per hour or 64 cents per minute. This last number is something to think of when shaking hands with any of those listed at a “meet and greet.”
Helvetica
sans-serif> 3) That by most corporate standards these salaries are considered low. The assumption is, of course, that Ohio University is a corporation.
Helvetica
sans-serif> Perhaps in the interest of balance, you might compile the numberof faculty members and educators earning $80,000 for comparison.
