Members of Bobcats for Israel stand and clap at Student Senate’s meeting for one of their peers who spoke out against Megan Marzec’s actions in regards to her ‘blood’ video. After students addressed senate Wednesday, the body also passed three resolutions.

What you should know about Megan Marzec's 'Ice Bucket Challenge'

Ohio University Student Senate President Megan Marzec doused herself in a bucket of "blood" (red paint, tomato juice and water) in a video posted Tuesday.

If you haven't already heard, Ohio University Student Senate President Megan Marzec recently drenched herself with fake "blood" out of concern for the Israeli-Palestine conflict.

In the video — an ALS Ice Bucket Challenge from OU President Roderick McDavis — she urges the university to cut the ties it has to Israel.

Many students were unhappy with how Marzec used her platform as senate president to push her personal beliefs. Scores attended senate's evening Wednesday meeting to voice their concerns.

Senate issued an apology midday Wednesday for the video via Twitter. Marzec said that it was her "own prerogative" to make the video and that senate should have taken strides to distance itself from the video instead of issuing an apology about it.

The university and Student Senate Alumni Society issued statements about Marzec's video as well.

Some students called for Marzec's resignation.

The story has been The Post's most read story online since the launch of its new website in late July. The publication received a pair of letters and a swath of social media responses on the topic.

Its executive editors also penned an editorial about the way Marzec used her platform as senate president to express her personal views.

A Post photographer wandered around campus to query students about their opinion on the topic as well.

Needless to say, the video and its aftermath is a hot topic on campus — and The Post would like to hear your opinion. Send a letter to editor@thepostathens.com or find The Post on Facebook or Twitter.
