Ohio men's basketball coach Tim O'Shea is out of the state right now, but not where many expect him to be.
After a story from the New York Daily News reported O'Shea was scheduled to visit Seton Hall University for a third interview about the head coach position for the Pirates yesterday, O'Shea said differently.
The truth is I am in Florida along with (assistant) coach (John) Rhodes recruiting
and we will return on Friday because we have some students visiting over the weekend O'Shea said. Some of what has been reported in these articles is incredibly inaccurate.
O'Shea, who just wrapped up his fifth season at the helm of the Bobcats, is rumored to be the Pirates' next coach, according to the New York Daily News and a column by ESPN.com's Andy Katz.
In his five years at Ohio, O'Shea has compiled an 83-69 overall record, including one trip to the NCAA Tournament in the 2004-2005 season.
(Seton Hall) did interview me in Indianapolis during the Final Four but really everything else has been exaggerated
O'Shea said. Some of what has been said is wrong
and Coach Rhodes and I have been focused on recruiting.
Seton Hall is expected to announce its new coach sometime this week because the national signing period starts Wednesday.
The Associated Press reported last night that Seton Hall was granted permission to talk to George Mason coach Jim Larranaga.
