I wanted to write and commend undergraduate director Sarah Michelson and her street performance piece that took place a couple weekends ago. It didn't make it into the press and I believe an event of this nature shouldn't be ignored ' it should be trumpeted and applauded.
This direct use of art as a vessel to promote social change was a breath of fresh air in a society that labels someone unpatriotic if you speak up against any majority-controlled belief. She and her remarkable cast invited the gathering audience (which numbered more than seventy people) to wake up ' sharing with us not only the questionable behavior of current national leaders but that of the mainstream media and many issues that directly impact Ohio University students and residents of Athens county.
Thank you, Sarah and your cast, for waking us up. Your loud voices resonate ' never stop using them. ' Michael Page is a theatre-directing major.
