Dave Rave about opening show: 'You don't want to miss this one'

With summer coming to an end, local DJ duo Dave Rave plans to kick off the new school year with new sounds, lights and a high-energy show.

“We will bring in the best music we can find, since our last party in May,” said Brandon Thompson of Dave Rave. “You don’t want to miss this one. We have a lot of energy just bottled up and we’re ready to party.”

During the summer, the two DJs had a chance to expand the party to larger Ohio cities, including both Columbus and Cleveland. Because of this, they were able to get new ideas for their music and stage production back home.

“With our first show, you will see new stuff,” said David Alexander of Dave Rave. “We want to fine-tune what we are doing. The party always goes well, but at Dave Rave, we are always trying to one-up the last party.”

Despite OU’s recent fall in the party-school polls, Dave Rave plans to combat the status in order to once again rise to the top.

“Dave and I have championed the party-school reputation,” Thompson said. “We’re not too happy about being No. 3, but our one overall goal is to get the school back to party school No. 1.”

While the duo continues to host visiting DJs in the area, they will also be adding a new element to the mix by producing their own original music throughout the year due to popular demand from fans.

“We are always trying to raise the awareness for Dave Rave,” Alexander said. “We have also been working on producing our own music and release some original music. It’s something a lot of our fans have been asking for.”

In addition, Alexander said they would be offering internships for those interested in gaining experience, learning and having some fun at the same time. The duo will also be hosting a 10Fest pre-party the Friday before taking the stage on the day of the festival.
