The Ohio Department of Transportation announced last week that a section of westbound lanes on the Nelsonville bypass project are scheduled to open Wednesday.
“We want to make sure the traveling public is aware of the traffic pattern change prior to the section of westbound lanes opening next week,” ODOT District 10 Construction Administrator Cary Betzing said in a news release. “Weather permitting, there should be traffic on the Westbound lanes by Sept. 19.”
Traffic will enter the roundabout on the U.S. Route 33 and take a ramp at West Interchange Road to get on the bypass. Traffic will exit the bypass through ODOT’s tie-in to the current four-lane Route 33, heading toward Logan.
“Eastbound traffic will continue in its current pattern until those lanes open later this year,” Betzing said, adding that concrete paving will begin on Phase 3 by October.
Phase 2 is scheduled to open in its entirety by the end of November 2012 and phase one is already complete, according the release.
The three-phase project is scheduled to be completed in September 2013.
