Soccer: New motivation technique energizes Bobcats for road trip

Stacy Strauss has tried to motivate her team in many different ways.

The coach attempted different types of pre-game speeches, everything from funny to inspiring. Yet, it has not been enough.

I have tried a lot of things

she said. I like to get them laughing and excited before a game.

Her new solution to the problem is to have the players themselves put something together. Four players are assigned to have something to present for the team before the next game. This causes the players to be creative and motivate themselves.

We have been coming out flat junior forward Amy Lower said. It is us that are not getting ourselves pumped up.- Strauss said. We need to defend set pieces. We need to get behind their defense. We need to make the most of the opportunities we have

and we have just got to have a good game mentality for 90 minutes.

Goalkeeper Jess MacLean will be key for the Bobcats.

I must stay sharp throughout the whole game

MacLean said. I must make sure to talk to my (defenders) and to keep everything organized.

The game against Miami could be high scoring, as the RedHawks have given up 27 goals so far this season. The Bobcats look to capitalize on the RedHawks defensive woes.

The opportunity (to score) is there

Lower said. If we come out and play our game and work on the things that we have been working on in practice this week

then it's absolutely possible to (score many goals).
