Athens Police officers responded to two reported assaults yesterday.
At about 4 p.m. yesterday, Officers were called to the Walmart parking lot, 929 E. State St., to a report that a white male punched a female, according to an Athens Police report.
Mark McClelland, 35, was located inside the store and arrested for assault, according to the report.
Officers learned that there was an outstanding warrant for the arrest of McClelland and he is being held in Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail, according to the report.
Also yesterday, at about 7 p.m., Officers responded to a call of a possible assault at 19 Clark St., according to another Athens Police report.
Officers also determined telephone harassment had taken place both Wednesday and yesterday, according to the report.
The case is still under investigation.
