Board of Trustees to discuss indoor aquatic, recreation center

More than a month since Ohio University’s Board of Trustees unanimously voted in favor of a 3.5 percent tuition increase, the board is meeting again to discuss raising the costs for more students.

Trustees will meet Friday for the first time under new chairwoman Gene Harris to vote, among other resolutions, on a decision to charge students studying Master of Health Administration an additional $3 per credit hour to compensate for budget restructuring.

Members will hear updates on OU’s building projects, which include Nelson Dining Hall renovations, additional South Green parking and the demolition of the Wolfe Street apartments.

Trustees will vote on whether or not to develop 1.69 acres, adjacent to Zane State College, to build an indoor aquatic and recreation center, according to the agenda.

OU will be responsible for 50 percent of a loan guaranty of not more than $1,500,000, according to the agenda. Muskingham County Community Foundation will be responsible for the remaining amount.

Trustees will also vote on a new retirement program that will be less limiting to employees, according to the agenda.

This will be the first board meeting for newly appointed secretary Peter Mather and trustee Diana Hisey.
