I don't see any disagreement between the deans and the faculty senators about the contents
he said. The only difficulties we have been facing are difficulties trying to express precisely what we're thinking of because sometimes language can be slippery and when you're writing a policy you have to make sure you say what you mean.
Fidler said the committee looked at policies at OU's peer institutions and at universities across the state to get ideas for wording. At schools that had workload policies, the statements varied.
Miami University is currently revising its workload policy as well, Fidler said. In a Jan. 3 draft of the policy, Miami's policy states, Faculty time is the University's most precious resource. Faculty Senate has spoken frequently about wanting a similar acknowledgment from OU administrators.
Fidler said the committee made good progress yesterday.
I was pleased with the meeting
she said. We worked some more on the wording issues. There were some changes that were made. The next step is to talk to all of the deans and then to the provost . . . We want to make sure that everybody has a chance to look at it.
